Ring in the New Year in Style!

December 19, 2022

Celebrate!  Get your tickets through Friday, December 23, to celebrate the start of 2023 and the first full year of the new Laurens County Museum at “Midnight at the Museum“ on Saturday, December 31, 2022.  Party from 8:00 pm-Midnight in the beautiful Magnolia Room on the historic Laurens County Courthouse Square.

Dance to the sounds of the beach and classic soul music of Laurens County’s own Vance Kennedy and Barksdale Station. Kennedy and his band have been entertaining dancers and music lovers around South Carolina for years and will play all the songs you love to hear.  And dance to!  A DJ will fill in during band breaks and keep the music going.

Enjoy amazing hors d’oeuvres brought out throughout the evening by Calvin Darryl Coleman, Chef for the Archdiocese of Military Chaplains in Washington, DC.  Chef Coleman loves his Laurens County roots. He is the nephew of LCMA Board member Elma Morrison.  He has catered before in the area and is ready to “wow” once again at the Museum.  He will be working with Susan Calhoun Ware to present their best. Decadent desserts will be prepared by the best bakers in South Carolina from right here in Laurens County.  Just ask those who attended in 2021!

Fantastic beverages of all types will be served by two of the best, and most fun, Museum volunteers – Joyce Rambo and Carol Senn.  Just walking up to the bar is fun with those two ladies behind it. And, be prepared to find something you can’t live without in the silent auction that evening.  Toast the New Year with champagne, or non-alcoholic sparkling beverages – your choice.  Everything besides the auction items is included in the price of the ticket.

“Midnight at the Museum” is all about celebrating the success of YOUR Laurens County Museum, but it is important as a 2022 finale fundraiser to support the mission of the Laurens County Museum.  2022 has been a year of success at the Museum.  From keeping the Museum free and open to the public five days a week to Revolutionary War programs to school field trips and being the place of preservation of important Laurens County artifacts arriving from as far away as California, the Museum is proving itself as a place of importance to all of Laurens County citizens.  (Those are just a few of the accomplishments of the Museum this year!) But, in order to keep its doors open, the Museum needs your support.  “Midnight at the Museum” offers a way to support and a celebration second to none.  In 2021, the New Year’s Eve fundraiser finale raised enough from those who attended to pay the yearly power bill at the Museum.  With about 30,000 square feet of Museum to heat and cool, the December 31, 2021, event was a huge success thanks to all who bought tickets and supported through sponsorships and donations.

Tickets are $100 per person for Museum members and $125 per person for non-members.  Museum memberships may be purchased the day you purchase your ticket to take advantage of the member price. Tickets are available at the Museum at 116 South Public Square, Laurens, SC, this week from 10 am-3 pm through Friday, December 23, or call Debbie (864)871-4907 or Teresa (864)871-0869 to arrange another time.  Sponsorships and silent auction items are being accepted.  Go to www.laurenscountymuseum.org or the Laurens County Museum Facebook Page for more information.

The inaugural event in 2021 was a huge success with a lively crowd. Ring in the New Year in style and support YOUR local museum!
