Local Entrepreneur Expands the Happiest Treat Experience in the World to Greenville Residents
Living in Greenville just got sweeter because Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard opened near the Greenville Memorial Hospital at 409 Mills Avenue on June 30th.
The neighborhood shop is locally owned and operated by Rick McFeely. With a background in the insurance and automobile industry, McFeely wanted to find a business that is rewarding and makes people happy. After moving to Simpsonville from Pittsburgh in 2018, McFeely says he’s excited to bring the East Coast staple to his new community. McFeely owns the Seneca shop and plans to open a third location in Greenville County by 2022.
“Rita’s Italian Ice is the perfect place for friends, family and individuals to come and get a tasty treat,” said McFeely. “If someone is having a bad day, sometimes it’s the treat that only Rita’s can deliver that will turn the day around. If it’s an afternoon treat that people are craving, Rita’s will be there to spread the happiness we’re known for.”
Rita’s signature Italian Ice is made fresh daily and available in a rotating daily selection from over 90 flavors. The Italian Ice is made on-site daily and Rita’s has a freshness policy where all unused ice will be discarded after 36 hours. Other menu items at Rita’s include Gelatis, Concretes, milkshakes and creamy frozen custard.
The 1200 square foot location will feature a drive-thru, dine-in area for guests to enjoy treats on the spot and will be open year-round.
Rita’s is actively looking for additional franchisees to help develop the brand throughout the country. The brand is seeking to partner with hands-on entrepreneurs who are passionate about the brand and motivated to grow.
