RMHC Charleston announces major expansion: Expanding Hope
April 14, 2025Crews Subaru Offers $50,000 Matching Gift to Amplify Community Giving
After years in the making, the moment has finally arrived: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston (RMHC Charleston) proudly announces the launch of the public phase of its capital campaign, Expanding Hope — a vital next step in the mission to support families with critically ill children.
Every year, RMHC Charleston is forced to turn away hundreds of families simply due to a lack of space. But that’s about to change.
This expansion directly responds to the growing demand for RMHC Charleston’s services. With a total project cost of $25 million, the new facility will span 42,500 square feet and include 46 additional bedrooms with private bathrooms, additional playrooms for children of all ages, family communal spaces, a large kitchen and dining room, and peaceful places for families to rest, recharge, and find hope during their darkest days.
“This expansion is more than just a building—it’s a lifeline for families going through the hardest moments of their lives,” said KP, CEO of RMHC Charleston. “The need in our community has never been greater, and we’re asking everyone to be part of this transformative effort. Thanks to the generosity of Crews Subaru, every donation this week will have double the impact.”
In celebration of this historic milestone, Crews Subaru has pledged to match all donations made during Launch Week (April 14–20) up to $50,000, offering donors a chance to double their impact.
“With the addition of 46 bedrooms, RMHC Charleston will be able to serve more families,” said Amy E. Hauser, RMHC Charleston Board Chair and System Administrator Officer – Children’s and Women’s at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. “We’re proud to have RMHC by our side, and grateful to the Charleston community and Crews Subaru for their support.”
