Robert Keane to Lead Spirit Telecom and PalmettoNet

October 27, 2010 – Robert Keane has been named President and CEO of Spirit Telecom and CEO of PalmettoNet.

Keane joins the two companies with headquarters in Columbia after 25plus years of experience in the telecommunications industry.

Bob spent 18 years with AT&T in telecom equipment sales,business development, product management and access management andprovided leadership in the development of local Internet, cable andaccess services. In 1997, he was named vice president of AT&T’slocal services with responsibility for strategic and fundamentalplanning in support of business, consumer and Internet business units,which included the integration of Teleport Communications Group (TCG)into AT&T.

In 1999, Bob joined Comcast and formed Comcast BusinessCommunications the following year.  As President and CEO, he had fullfinancial and operating responsibility for the development of asubsidiary to provide fiber based services to small and mediumbusiness.

In 2002, he joined Cavalier Telephone as its President and COOoverseeing the day-to-day operations of a regional CLEC operating infive states and an inter-city long haul optical network providingservices in 15 states. 

Most recently he served as president and President and CEO of Arena Racing LLC.
