Robert Randolph & the Family Band to Headline Tenth Annual Rosewood Crawfish Festival

March 25, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – The Greater Rosewood Merchants Association (GRMA) announced that the American funk and soul band Robert Randolph & the Family Band will headline the 2015 Rosewood Crawfish Festival.

“Robert Randolph & the Family Band is an upbeat, up-tempo, band led by a pedal steel guitarist that will bring a lot of energy to this year’s festival,” said Dave Britt, GRMA Executive Director.  “We’ve booked bands that were big in the 90s for years, and that has done well for us.  However, for our tenth anniversary, we wanted to do something a little different than we have in the past.”

Robert Randolph & the Family Band first gained national attention in 2002 with the release of their album Live at the Wetlands.  The band has toured tirelessly with unforgettable performances at such festivals as Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.  Randolph himself has been listed on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list.

In addition to Robert Randolph & the Family Band, the festival will have 10,000 pounds of Louisiana crawfish and more than 15 bands playing on three stages. The rest of the lineup will include: Atlas Road Crew, Randall Bramblet, The Mississippi Kites, Analog Moon, Jahson and the Natty Vibez, Jackaroe, Rooftop Flyers, Alien Carnival, Blue Iguanas, The Juniors, Death of Paris, Megan Jean and the KFB, Danielle Howle and Fireworks Show, Prettier than Matt, Jordan Igoe and Darby Wilcox.

“Rosewood is going to offer our community a wonderful day of crawfish, music and fun,” said Moe Baddourah, City of Columbia Councilman and Rosewood Drive business owner.  “This family friendly festival is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to enjoy a beautiful day in Columbia.”

The Li’l Crawdaddy Carnival will be another great feature of the festival and will be housed in front of Publix.  It will feature a full city block of rides, games and entertainment for the little ones to enjoy.

“Events like the Crawfish Festival give visitors the opportunity to experience Southern culture and interact with residents.  The festival also provides out-of-towners an added incentive to explore neighborhoods beyond the city core,” said Bill Ellen, President & CEO, Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports & Tourism.  “We’re looking forward to sharing one of the city’s favorite celebrations with them!”
