Robinson named SCEDA Local Developer of the Year

June 6, 2025

C. Gregory “Gregg” Robinson, CEO of the Florence County Economic Development Partnership, has been named the 2025 Local Developer of the Year by the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association (SCEDA).

Robinson is the first Florence County professional to receive this honor, which recognizes the hard work and dedication of local or regional developers in South Carolina.

Robinson’s economic development experience spans more than 30 years, with a legacy of transformative projects across the state. His efforts in communities across South Carolina have resulted in more than $6 billion in new capital investment and the creation of over 5,500 jobs, helping to generate more than 7 million square feet of new industrial and distribution space.

Among the major milestones under Robinson’s leadership in Florence County are announcements from global brands such as Amazon, Carter Lumber and Asset Technology Group, as well as the AESC US, LLC electric vehicle battery gigafactory. AESC represents a $1.62 billion investment and is expected to create 1,620 new jobs, positioning Florence County in one of the state’s growing industry sectors. Currently, Florence County has more than 2 million square feet of industrial space under construction.

“I’m proud and deeply humbled to be named SCEDA’s Local Developer of the Year,” Robinson said. “Being nominated by my peers – professionals who truly understand the challenges and triumphs of economic development – makes this recognition especially meaningful. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help shape a more prosperous future for our community. Every new job we create lifts our standard of living and enhances our overall quality of life.”

Robinson’s strategic vision has helped elevate Florence County into one of South Carolina’s top 10 most industrialized counties per capita. Today, 11 international companies from nine countries call Florence home, and five new industrial parks and sites are currently in development.

In his career, Robinson has earned the South Carolina Certified Economic Developer (SCCED) designation and is currently a candidate for the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) credential. He is a two-time graduate of the University of South Carolina, holding both a B.A. and a master’s degree. In addition, he has completed advanced programs at Georgetown University, the College of Charleston, and the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
