Roper St. Francis Healthcare and Ashley Hall partner to provide comprehensive sports medicine support for student-athletes

September 28, 2026

Roper St. Francis Healthcare and Ashley Hall, Charleston’s only all-girls’ K–12 independent school, are partnering to provide comprehensive sports medicine services and expanded healthcare support for Ashley Hall student-athletes.

Through the partnership, Ashley Hall athletes will have access to sports medicine care designed to support them before, during and after competition. Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Sports Medicine Program will provide on-site coverage and coordinated care focused on injury prevention, immediate evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and safe return to play.

“Roper St. Francis Healthcare Sports Medicine is very excited to begin a new partnership with Ashley Hall and continue to develop relationships with our community,” said Joshua Cohick, Athletic Training Supervisor for Roper St. Francis Healthcare.

The partnership will include sports medicine support for Ashley Hall practices, games and events, as well as injury evaluation and immediate care. Roper St. Francis Healthcare will also support injury prevention through services such as concussion screening, emergency action planning, on-site physicals and injury management.

“At Ashley Hall, our student-athletes’ health and well-being are a top priority, and we are always looking for the best resources to support them,” said Christian Alcantara, Director of Athletics for Strategic Program at Ashley Hall.

When an athlete needs continued care beyond the field, the partnership connects student-athletes with Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s broader network of sports injury clinics, physical therapy and orthopedic specialists. Coordinated communication among athletes, families, coaches and healthcare providers helps create a clear path from injury to recovery and return to play.

A unique component of Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Sports Medicine Program is the Mobile Sports Medicine Unit, a fully equipped, climate-controlled clinical space that can be brought directly to tournaments, races and other large athletic events. The unit provides private examination and treatment space, running water and immediate access to clinical care without requiring an athlete to leave the event.

The partnership also provides a connection to the broader resources of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, including pediatric-ready emergency care, inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, surgery and specialty care when necessary.

“We are blessed to have the opportunity to expand access for their student-athletes via our sports medicine expertise and growing resources in all aspects to be successful both on and off the field,” said Cohick.

While students and their families can seek care with other organizations, Roper St. Francis Healthcare and Ashley Hall will work together to tailor sports medicine services to the school’s needs, with a partnership designed to support Ashley Hall’s student-athletes today and grow alongside its athletic programs.

“We’re excited to partner with Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Sports Medicine Program to provide our athletes with excellent care that helps them perform at their highest level,” said Alcantara.
