Roxanne Wilson Appointed to Airport Commission

COLUMBIA, SC – September 19, 2008 – Roxanne Wilson has been appointed to the Richland-Lexington Airport Commission by Governor Sanford and will represent Lexington County on the Commission for a term of four years.

Mrs. Wilson grew up in Florence, SC with her twin sister, Suzanne. She graduated from McClenagan High School and received her BA degree in history from Columbia College. Roxanne is married to Congressman Joe Wilson of the Second Congressional District of South Carolina.

They are the parents of 4 sons…Alan, Addison, Julian, and Hunter and the proud grandparents of three boys and one girl. All four sons serve in the United States military. Their oldest son, Alan, is a Major in the Army National Guard and served for a year in Iraq. Add is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and is a diving medical officer in the United States Navy. Julian is a Clemson University graduate and serves in the SC Army National Guard as a First Lieutenant. Their youngest son, Hunter, is a freshman at Clemson University majoring in Industrial Engineering where he is enrolled in Army ROTC. Additionally, all four of their sons are Eagle Scouts. The Wilsons attend the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia.

Roxanne formerly taught school in Lexington District Two where she was active in local education issues and activities. She served on the Lexington County Beautification Committee, Clemson Extension, the Lexington County DSS Advisory Board and the State Dental Board. She has been active in many political campaigns over the last 30 years and was a delegate to the 2008 National Republican Convention in Minneapolis.

Roxanne is currently a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the West Metro Republican Women. Formerly, she was a member of the Evergreen Garden Club of Cayce, the Town and Country Homemakers and the Springdale Junior Women’s Club.
