S.L. Munson & Company Announces New Addition to be Built by Bobbitt

COLUMBIA, SC – Bobbitt Design Build recently began the renovation and addition of S.L. Munson & Company’s distribution facility located at 1404 Old Dairy Drive in Columbia. The project involves the addition of a 5,082-square-foot heated building and a new 626-square-foot loading dock.
The Bobbitt team worked with S.L. Munson & Company – a manufacturer, importer and distributor of production-oriented, precision metalworking abrasives and diamond dressing tools – to create additional space to house new production equipment, provide more work space for employees and increase distribution and manufacturing capacity. The renovations will incorporate additional restroom facilities, a new break room, and a mailroom in a pre-engineered structure with a standing seam metal roof.
While under construction, S.L. Munson & Company will maintain full operations. Early in the design-build process, Bobbitt ensured continuous full utilization of the structure and property by managing the relocation of any interfering power and data lines on the property.
“We are very excited about the additional services and increased productivity the new facility will allow,” said S.L. Munson & Company president Lyman Munson. “It will provide needed additional space to accommodate the continuing growth the company has realized over the past few years.”
The project will be completed in late 2014.
