Saluda River Basin Council to Present Draft Plan at Public Meeting
May 26, 2025Water touches every part of life in Laurens County—from the tap water we drink to the rivers where we fish, the farms that feed us, and the industries that power our economy. That’s why local residents and leaders are encouraged to attend a vital public meeting hosted by the Saluda River Basin Council on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at ReWa’s Graham W. Rich Operations & Training Center in Greenville.
This meeting marks an important step in shaping the Saluda River Basin Plan, a long-range effort to ensure a secure, sustainable water future for communities across the upstate—including Laurens County.
A Local Connection to a Regional Resource
Laurens County depends on the Saluda River Basin every day. Lake Greenwood, which serves as the source water for the Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission (LCWSC), and Lake Rabon, owned and operated by LCWSC, are both integral parts of this basin. Their health and sustainability are directly tied to the decisions being made in this comprehensive planning effort.
“This planning initiative impacts everyone in the Upstate,” said K.C. Price, LCWSC’s Engineering Manager and chairman of the Saluda River Basin Council. “From drinking water to agriculture, we all have a stake in protecting this resource for future generations.”
What to Expect at the Public Meeting
Hosted at ReWa’s state-of-the-art facility—conveniently located along the new Swamp Rabbit Trail extension—the meeting offers an inside look at the draft Saluda River Basin Plan. Attendees will hear from members of the Basin Council, explore key data and recommendations, and have the opportunity to ask questions and share input.
Whether you’re a small business owner, farmer, civic leader, utility customer, or simply care about the future of water in Laurens County, this is your chance to speak up.
