Salvation Army presents Battle of the Bells trophy to Dutch Fork High School Air Force JROTC

Five local high schools participated in The Salvation Army’s 2016 High School Battle of the Bells Competition to help impact the Midlands through the work of The Salvation Army of the Midlands.

The winner of The Salvation Army of the Midlands’ 2016 High School Battle of the Bells competition is Dutch Fork High School Air Force JROTC. Student volunteers from the school rang bells and raised a total of $4,945.13.

White Knoll High School came in second place and collected $2,002.22. Heathwood Hall came in third place and collected $1,235.77. Other participating school groups included: Spring Valley High School Key Club and Columbia High School JROTC.

Participating high schools helped raise funds for the Christmas Assistance Program, which provides emergency assistance to local families in need. More than 800 high school volunteers participate in the competition each year. An overall total of $10,009.09 was raised by the five participating school groups.
