Each year, several local schools strive to become The Salvation Army’s High School Battleof the Bells winner. These schools will help raise funds for the Christmas Assistance Program, which provides emergency assistance to local families in need. More than 800 high school volunteers participate in the competition each year. An overall total of $7,624.67 was raised by the five participating school groups.

The High School Battle of the Bells trophy was presented to Dutch Fork High School Air Force JROTC students today at their annual JROTC inspection.

White Knoll High School came in second place and collected $1,832.81. Heathwood Hall came in third place and collected $1,595.32. Other participating school groups included: Columbia High School JROTC and Hammond School.

“Many thanks to all of our high school volunteers for their support of The Salvation Army of the Midlands and congratulations to the volunteers from Dutch Fork for their participation in another successful Red Kettle Christmas Campaign,” said Major Roger Coulson, Regional Coordinator, Corps Officer at The Salvation Army of the Midlands. “We are truly grateful for the volunteer support that students and staff from all the participating high schools provide us during the busy holiday season. We hope to have more high schools get involved next year to help with making an impact in their local community.”
