May 20, 2014

GREER, SC – Greer State Bank recognizes Beth Sayce, VP, Loan Administration of Greer State Bank and John Gifford, LPL Financial Advisor and Senior VP, Financial Services of Greer State Bank for the completion of further education.

Beth Sayce has graduated from the 2014 Southern Operations and Technology School. The two-year school is produced and managed by the Georgia Bankers Association in cooperation with the Florida, Louisiana, South Carolina and Tennessee Bankers Associations, and is held at the Center for Continuing Education on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Ga. Nine bank operations and technology professionals graduated from this year’s school.

“Operations and Technology are central to the business of banking, so bankers need broad-based understanding and in-depth knowledge in these areas,” said School Director Sandy Robinson, senior vice president and director of internal audit of Ameris Bancorp Inc. in Moultrie, Ga. “Technology in banking is rapidly changing, and the Southern Operations and Technology School curriculum lays the groundwork for meeting these challenges.”

John Gifford recently graduated from the Leadership Greer Class XXXIV. The program’s curriculum is designed to challenge participants to respond to the needs of the community and the dynamics of social and economic change, develop a sense of bonding and cooperation between the participants, create a dialogue and sense of teamwork, and provide leadership training and development. Program session topics included a history of Greer, public safety, human services, economic development, local government, state government, education, media/communication, and quality of life. The participants also are required to complete a class project that serves a community need.

“Leadership Greer Class XXXIV was an impressive group of individuals that came together as a team to accomplish a very successful class project,” said Director of Leadership, Lynn Pascazio. “The class raised over $12,000 for their Class Project which was titled, Leaders in Action. They worked on improving five homes in the Greer area and then donated $1,000 to each of the following charities: Greer Relief & Resources, Greer Community Ministries, Piedmont Women’s Center, Middle Tyger Community Center, and the Greer Soup Kitchen.”
