SC Bar Foundation announces Gibson and Mitchell as Foundation Ambassadors

The South Carolina Bar Foundation welcomes Florence attorney Tiffany D. Gibson and Hartsville attorney Cody T. Mitchell as Foundation Ambassadors. In this leadership position, Gibson and Mitchell will work with other Ambassadors from around the state to promote the Bar Foundation’s mission and programs and help raise additional resources to support legal services programs and other grantees of the Bar Foundation.

Tiffany D. Gibson is an attorney for the SC Department of Social Services Child Support Services Division, where she handles child support default orders and out-of-state registrations for twelve counties in the Florence Region, provides training assistance to Human Services Specialists, negotiates with parents and their legal counsel during Judicial court dates, and presents cases in Family Court.

Gibson previously served as an attorney for the SC Department of Consumer Affairs and was an assistant public defender in the 4thCircuit Public Defender’s Office.  She is very active in the community, previously serving as community service chair for Black Law Students Association and the West Columbia Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated. She also serves as a committee member of the Young Lawyers Division’s Annual Backpack and School Supply Drive and has participated in the Midlands Heart Walk and Habitat for Humanity Wills Clinic.

Gibson attended Francis Marion University, graduating magna cum laude with a degree in political science. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

 

Cody T. Mitchell is a trial lawyer at Lucas, Warr, & White in Hartsville, where he practices in the areas of family law, criminal law, personal injury, workers compensation, probate, and real estate. He also serves as Captain in the US Army Reserve and as municipal judge for the Town of Bethune, South Carolina.

Mitchell is a member of the South Carolina Bar, American Bar Association, SC Association for Justice Board of Governors, the South Carolina Bar Veterans & Military Law Section Executive Committee, and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.  He is also chairman of the South Carolina Young Lawyers Division’s Military Support Committee and Fourth Circuit Representative for the South Carolina Young Lawyer’s Division.

 

In the community, Mitchell is president of the Bethune Lions Club and zone chair for the SC Lions District 32-C, member of Hartsville Rotary Club, member of Hartsville Kiwanis Club, and member of the board of directors of Darlington County Habitat for Humanity. He is a member of Harmony Baptist Church. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law and his bachelor’s degree in history from Presbyterian College.
