Attorney Doward Harvin is an SC Bar Board Member

On Monday, our nation honored the life and work of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. South Carolina attorney and SC Bar Board of Governors Member, Doward Harvin, served as the keynote speaker on January 17 at 3:00 pm for the Williamsburg County NAACP’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Fest.

“This speech mattered to me because Dr. King has had a monumental impact on the social and legal progress of our communities. I wanted my speech to implore everyone of all races, genders, and nationalities to come together to eradicate the division that can be caused by misinformation and propaganda that has infiltrated many of our communities,” stated Harvin. “We must have respectful conversations within our communities to continue to find the truths that we need to move the legacy of Dr. King forward and continue to enhance the quality of lives of every citizen.”

Since 2019, Harvin has served on the Bar’s Board as representative for Judicial Region 3, which covers counties in the Pee Dee. He also is a member of the House of Delegates, active on the Diversity Committee, Wellness Committee and is a 2021 graduate of the SC Bar Leadership Academy.

Originally scheduled as a drive-up event to be held at the Kingstree Recreation Center Field, the event was broadcast virtually on Facebook and Zoom. You can listen to the speech in its entirety here: https://fb.watch/aCUbYV5kwO/.
