SC Bar names Elizabeth R. Hamilton Pro Bono Program Director

COLUMBIA, SC —The SC Bar welcomed Elizabeth R. Hamilton as the new Pro Bono Program Director in August. Hamilton comes to the Bar from Charleston School of Law, where she served as the Associate Director of Career Services. In that capacity, she collaborated with the judicial branch, lawyers, businesses and local communities to develop opportunities for those in the legal profession.

Previously, she was an attorney at the S.C. Department of Revenue and at Pierce, Herns, Sloan & Wilson, LLC in Charleston. She also served as an interim clerk for Hon. Joseph F. Anderson Jr. and an extern for Hon. Paul E. Short Jr. In 2008, she graduated cum laude from the Charleston School of Law. Prior to law school, she earned a bachelor of science in international business from the College of Charleston and subsequently served as a sales analyst for Bank of America’s Global Corporate Investment Bank.

Hamilton currently serves on the Bar’s House of Delegates. She is a graduate of the 2014 SC Bar Leadership Academy, an active member of the Young Lawyers Division, and a member of Richland, Greenville, Lexington and Charleston County Bar Associations. She also has years of volunteer experience in the community through various pro bono positions in the Junior League.

In her new role, Hamilton will develop and implement a statewide program to serve South Carolinians who are in need of civil legal assistance.
