SC Bar Young Lawyers collecting personal care items for women in need

CHARLESTON, SC – The SC Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Voices Against Violence Committee is collecting personal care items for its 2014 Women in Need Necessities Drive. Items will be collected until Dec. 11 and donated to various domestic violence shelters throughout the state.

Items needed include paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, office paper, canned goods and other food items, powder laundry detergent, cleaning products, deodorant, toothbrushes, children’s clothes and baby wipes. Additionally, clothes for sexual assault survivors are needed, such as pants with elastic waistbands, packs of underwear, sports bras, t-shirts and socks. Items can be dropped off at any of the following locations in the Lowcountry:

Tax-deductible monetary donations are also welcome. Checks may be sent directly to the shelter of your choice or made payable to the SC Bar YLD Foundation and mailed to SC Bar, Attn: YLD Foundation, P.O. Box 608, Columbia, SC 29202.

The YLD Voices Against Violence program is designed to engage young lawyers in efforts to generate awareness of the epidemic of domestic violence and provide support to local shelters.

The YLD includes all members of the S.C. Bar under age 36 and those with less than five years membership.
