SC HIV Council/Wright Wellness Center leases new medical office in Columbia, SC

May 17, 2021

Crawford Prezioso represented the SC HIV Council/Wright Wellness Center in the leasing of office space at 1022 Calhoun Street in Columbia.

The organization leased a 6,980-square-foot medical office space in Columbia’s Central Business District. Prezioso also represented the organization in a recent lease of lab space located at 1731 Laurel Street.

“Finding the right office for the Wright Wellness Center was a challenge because of their combined medical and office needs,” said Prezioso. “Once we honed in on the right space and location we went to work from a cost-saving and effectiveness standpoint. We ended up accomplishing both which was a win-win for everyone involved.”

The South Carolina HIV Council, also known as the Wright Wellness Center, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has served anyone, regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation or insurance status, for the past 27 years. Its mission includes the development and implementation of strategies that reduce the rate of HIV, STIs or other health disparities. In 2019, the name was changed to Wright Wellness Center to commemorate the late Cynthia Wright MSPH, a beloved supporter, epidemiologist and employee of the agency.

The agency was founded in 1994 as the first alternative HIV testing facility in South Carolina. In addition to testing services for HIV/STDs and viral hepatitis, they now offer COVID testing, PrEP for HIV prevention, medical case management, substance abuse services, mental health and medical care. The agency currently provides STD treatment and PrEP services at the only evening medical clinic in the Midlands and is currently preparing to debut its new design and relaunch its mobile community testing unit.

Prezioso represents owners, landlords, users and tenants in the leasing and sale of commercial properties throughout Columbia and central South Carolina.
