SC Launch Inc. announces investment in BILDIT

September 15, 2022

COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina Research Authority’s investment affiliate, SC Launch Inc., has invested in BILDIT.  The $200,000 investment will help the startup continue excelling in the e-commerce market where they’ve created a mobile app that gives customers a premium shopping experience and retailers the flexibility to grow quickly.

BILDIT became an SCRA Member Company in 2021 and received a $25,000 Project Development Fund Grant. It became an SC Launch Inc. Portfolio Company this year with this investment.

Whether companies need to rebuild their apps or are starting fresh, BILDIT can be used as a pre-built, out-of-the-box mobile app solution or as a platform to fully customize their app and make it their own. E-commerce brands get pre-built product detail pages, product list pages, a home screen, a high-quality content management system, and an efficient native checkout experience that increases the rate from ad to purchase by 25%.

Ryan Terry, president and co-founder of BILDIT, John Hopkins, BILDIT business development manager, Matt Hudson, BILDIT president and CEO, and Lee MacIlwinen, SCRA investment manager.

“Matt and his team have a clear understanding of what it takes for companies to be able to integrate technology most easily. Product ease of use impacts their customers’ bottom line. BILDIT developed their apps with this in mind, even designing them to clip directly into the company’s existing interface to test it out before they download it. That’s a testament to the app’s quality and user-friendliness,” said Lee MacIlwinen, SCRA investment manager.

BILDIT CEO Matt Hudson said, “We appreciate Lee and the entire team at SC Launch Inc. and SCRA. They see the innovative ways we are revolutionizing the e-commerce space. This investment will help us continue to grow and develop, which in turn will help retailers solve their mobile app needs.”

“BILDIT is helping companies grow their customer base. I see this as an added benefit because helping companies grow is central to our mission here at SCRA,” said Bob Quinn, SCRA executive director. “We look forward to our continued partnership in their success.”

BILDIT’s customers currently include Forever 21 and Belk. They have also formed partnerships with internet providers and mobile proximity technologies to enhance the e-commerce experience of their customers.
