SC native & cartoonist GB Tran joins Richland Library for virtual discussion

Richland Library is hosting a virtual discussion with cartoonist, designer and illustrator Gia-Bao (aka GB) Tran. Join us for Let’s Talk Race: A Conversation with GB Tran from 3 – 4 p.m., Sunday, June 27. He plans to talk about being a Vietnamese American artist and son of immigrants, exploring his genealogy, and adapting to life in America. Please register at richlandlibrary.com for the online program, which is free and open to the public.
Born in South Carolina in 1976, a year after his parents fled Vietnam, Tran is best known for his graphic novel, “Vietnamerica: A Family’s Journey,” which won a Society of Illustrators Gold Medal and was included in Time’s list of Top 10 Graphic Memoirs. It’s a visually stunning portrait of survival, escape and reinvention – and of the gift of the American immigrants’ dream, passed on to their children.
