May 6, 2026

The South Carolina Philharmonic announced a free outdoor concert, John Williams’ America, on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Finlay Park. Presented by the City of Columbia, the event celebrates the SC Phil’s return to one of the city’s most iconic public spaces.

The program honors the enduring legacy of composer John Williams, featuring a selection of his most iconic and beloved film scores. Audiences will hear music from landmark films including Star Wars, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Indiana Jones, Saving Private Ryan, Midway, and The Patriot, among others, showcasing the breadth and emotional power of his contribution to American film music.

Set in the heart of downtown Columbia at Finlay Park, the concert invites the community to gather for an evening of live orchestral music in a relaxed outdoor setting. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the performance by the lake as the sun sets over the city. The event is designed to be accessible and welcoming to audiences of all ages, offering a shared cultural experience for families, friends, and music lovers across the Midlands.

John Williams’ America is free and open to the public.
