SC Supreme Court names Robinson Gray’s Lisle Traywick to Pro Bono Honor Roll

February 23, 2022

Lisle Traywick, an attorney with Robinson Gray Stepp & Laffitte, LLC, has again been recognized by the Supreme Court of South Carolina for his extensive commitment to pro bono service in 2021.

Each year since 2020, the state Supreme Court Pro Bono Honor Roll has recognized lawyers who have provided 50 or more hours of pro bono legal service — that is, services provided for no fee or at a reduced fee to persons of limited means or to public service or charitable groups or organizations — in the previous year.

Lisle provided more than 100 hours of such service last year. As a result, he was one of more than 300 S.C. attorneys named on Feb. 15 to the honor roll for 2021.

In a release, Chief Justice Donald W. Beatty said, “The efforts of these attorneys help improve the lives of citizens and ensure a fair and efficient court system for all. To each attorney listed on this pro bono honor roll, I commend you and thank you for exemplifying the best of the legal profession.”

SC Bar President Mary Sharp added, “We are grateful for all the Palmetto State attorneys who regularly volunteer their services by providing direct representation, holding clinics, and answering questions for those South Carolinians of low or modest means.”

Lisle primarily focuses his practice at Robinson Gray on appellate advocacy and civil litigation. He defends governmental entities and public officials, litigates constitutional issues, and advises and represents utilities in administrative and regulatory matters. He also enjoys teaching Election Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law.

A Columbia native, Lisle graduated cum laude from Wofford College and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Pro bono service is strongly encouraged at Robinson Gray. Lisle himself has appeared on the Court’s honor roll before, and earlier this month, his colleague Ashley Dixon was recognized by the American Bar Association as a Free Legal Answers Pro Bono Leader for 2021.

“We’re always proud of our attorneys for this kind of commitment to community service,” said Cal Watson, the firm’s managing member. “By again going the extra mile in this way, Lisle reflects well not only on this firm, but on our entire profession.”
