SC Teacher of the Year Awards to be held April 27th

COLUMBIA, SC – February 2, 2011 – The 2011-12 South Carolina Teacher of the Year will be announced on April 27, 2011, selected from a group of 85 district teachers of the year.

The annual award ceremony brings together the state’s top business,education and political leaders to honor South Carolina’s best publiceducators.
The gala reception and dinner, funded by corporate donors, will feature public school talent selected from video entries in “This School’s Got Talent” contest, held from February 1 through March 15 and sponsored by South Carolina Future Minds.

Supporters of SouthCarolina public education are invited to attend the event, or to simplycome cheer on the 85 teachers of the year as they process from theHilton Hotel down Senate Street to the convention center. One of SouthCarolina’s top school marching bands will accompany the procession. Come out and show your appreciation for great public school teachers.
