SC Thrive Encourages South Carolinians to Utilize Free Benefit Resource Service

May 25, 2022

SC Thrive, a statewide nonprofit organization that helps South Carolinians navigate the complex systems of available quality of life benefits, encourages residents across the state to utilize their free services by visiting SCThrive.org or contacting their contact center at 800-726-8774. Individuals can contact SC Thrive for assistance in being connected to valuable benefits resources, including Mental Health First Aid training, military and Veteran support, Healthy Connections Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and more.

“The last couple of years have been tough on many families and individuals in South Carolina,” says Tricia Richardson, Chief Executive Officer of SC Thrive. “At SC Thrive, we’re proud to be able to help both individuals and organizations identify their needs and provide assistance in any way that we can, and strengthen our communities.”

For individuals, SC Thrive serves as a one-stop-shop and connector to benefits for quality of life resources. The organization offers benefits screenings to help individuals find resources that the person is eligible for. Any South Carolina resident can apply with an SC Thrive counselor by contacting 800-726-8774.
For service providers and organizations that support local communities, SC Thrive offers a variety of trainings and partnership opportunities. Through these trainings, SC Thrive educates organizations and the people within them about state and federal programs, community case management, Mental Health First Aid and other resources found in South Carolina. Additionally, through SC Thrive’s web-based platform, Thrive Hub, clients can access multiple resources on their own or with the help of a trained Thrive Hub counselor.

Since 2010, SC Thrive has assisted more than 400,000 South Carolinians with finding available benefits and other resources. In fact, SC Thrive has returned more than $800 million to South Carolina from the resources and benefits they have helped individuals apply for — from SNAP, Healthy Connections Medicaid, tax returns, the COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program and more.

As SC Thrive plans for the second half of 2022 and beyond, the organization looks to continue finding ways to support individuals across South Carolina while building relationships with more agencies statewide.
