SC Works Trident to host veteran virtual hiring event Nov. 17

November 17, 2021

SC Works Trident is hosting a virtual job fair specifically for veterans on Wednesday, November 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The event is open to the public and offers a range of career fields from healthcare, manufacturing, public service, and hospitality. In total, nearly 30 employers will be in attendance, including representatives from Joint Base Charleston, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Scout Boats, Santee Cooper, Roper St. Francis Healthcare and Lockheed Martin.

“SC Works exists to connect job-seekers with employers, and we wouldn’t be able to do that without the freedoms that our veterans secure each and every day,” said Sharon Goss, Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments Workforce Development director. “We want veterans to know that the intangibles they possess of service, duty, and the ability to work as a team are valuable skills that employers seek. We are excited to offer this opportunity to connect these leaders in our community with such an impressive group of employers who are eager to hire and help them take this next step as they transition back into civilian life.”

The virtual event will use the Brazen platform, which allows participants to have one-on-one conversations with each employer, providing a great opportunity to learn more about the company and build relationships with recruiters. In the past month, the online platform connected 257 attendees resulting in 25 new hires, with an additional seven follow-up interviews scheduled.

Representatives from SC Works Trident and Veterans Services will be on hand to talk with candidates and answer questions.

SC Works Trident encourages attendees to be prepared for the event by following these guidelines:

  • Update resume before the hiring event
  • Register for the event
  • Be prepared to email your updated resume to employers

SC Works Trident is available to provide resume assistance to job-seekers interested in the event. Those looking for help can book an appointment with a career coach at scworkstrident.org/scheduler.
