SCANA and City of Cayce dedicate new ‘Sign of Growth’ for the area

February 6, 2017

There’s a new sign of economic growth in Cayce. SCANA Corporation, the parent company of SCE&G, and the City of Cayce today dedicated a new “Welcome to Cayce” sign on 12th Street Extension near Interstate 77.

“Our I-77/12th Street entryway to the city is now even more beautiful thanks to the new sign donated to the city by CMC Steel and SCE&G,” said Cayce Mayor Elise Partin. “They have set a tone of ‘investment where you work,’ and that mindset and subsequent actions create benefits that will be reaped by us all for a long time to come.”

The new stone and mortar sign was completed last month. SCANA has been headquartered in Cayce since fall 2009.

“It’s much more than a sign…It’s also a nod to the growth and development of the area,” said Keller Kissam, SCE&G president of retail operations. “When we decided to put our headquarters here, we knew the great potential this area had for expansion and economic growth. Now everyone can see that Cayce, South Carolina has a lot to offer.”

Located between Interstate 77 and Interstate 26, Cayce, S.C. has approximately 13,000 residents and more than 700 businesses that span across 17 miles in Lexington County. SCANA Corporation headquarters, Lexington Medical Center, Amazon and Nephron Pharmaceuticals are just a few of the businesses located in the Cayce area. Attractions like the award-winning Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center and the Timmerman Trail draw thousands of visitors to Cayce annually.

“Signs of growth are everywhere for this city,” said Butch Kelly, president of the Cayce Beautification Foundation. “From construction and for sale signs on commercial lots to new hotels and restaurants, we know the future is bright for this area. We’re anxious to see Cayce’s progressive and continued growth.”
