ScanSource Charitable Foundation Makes Donation

March 18, 2015

MAULDIN, SC – Organizers of the Mauldin Miracle League were surprised when they recently received a substantial contribution from a company in California. After all, not only had they never heard of ID Tech, which makes online and point-of-sale payment technology and equipment, they probably would never have a need for its products.

“Most of our donations come through organizations or individuals with direct ties to the families we serve,” said League Director Jeff Powers. “To have such a significant donation come from a company based 3,000 miles away is pretty remarkable.”

For many years, ID Tech has sold its products through Greenville-based ScanSource. In January, ID Tech made an unsolicited contribution to the ScanSource Charitable Foundation, which supports worthwhile causes in the communities in which ScanSource operates. As a show of support to its longtime partner, ID Tech asked that its donation benefit an organization in ScanSource’s backyard, and the Mauldin Miracle League was chosen.

“Over the years, we have had many customers and vendors support the Foundation through generous donations of their time, talent and treasure,” said Christy Thompson, vice president of worldwide marketing, ScanSource, Inc. “ID Tech has again taken ‘partnership’ to a whole new level. Supporting the local community is a primary tenet of our corporate values and it is gratifying to know that what matters to ScanSource matters to our partners.”

The ID Tech donation will be used to build a storage facility at the Miracle League field where all the baseball equipment, uniforms, sports wheelchairs, cooling zone fans and other supplies and equipment will be stored. This allows the Mauldin Miracle League program to have its own storage facility located adjacent to the dedicated Miracle League field in one central location.

“The Mauldin Miracle League is incredibly grateful to ID Tech and to the ScanSource Charitable Foundation for its generous gift,” said Powers. “We’re a non-profit that relies solely on funding from public and private sources, and to have such a substantial gift come to us completely unsolicited is an extraordinary blessing.”
