SCBA Recognizes First Citizens’ Kevin Lindler as Outstanding Young Banker for 2014

August 12, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – First Citizens today announced that Senior Vice President and Metro Columbia Market Executive Kevin W. Lindler was named Outstanding Young Banker for 2014 at the 2014 South Carolina Bankers Association (SCBA) Annual Meeting.

Sponsored by the SCBA Past Chairman’s Club, the Outstanding Young Banker Award annually recognizes one outstanding South Carolina banker 40 years of age or younger.

“Kevin’s accomplishments in banking certainly speak for themselves, but he’s done so much more beyond that,” said First Citizens Chairman and CEO Jim Apple. “He’s a very centered and well-rounded young man and you see that in his volunteer and community work. Kevin is a real asset to the banking industry and I know he has a bright future ahead of him.”

Lindler, 40, follows last year’s award recipient Glenn D. Buddin, chief executive officer of Walhalla-based Blue Ridge Bank.

“There is no greater honor than to be recognized by your peers,” Lindler said. “I am blessed to be surrounded by people who have influenced me along the way – the leadership here at First Citizens, the people who work with me, my family and friends. This award reflects the impact of those key relationships. It’s a very humbling experience to say the least.”

Lindler began his banking career in 1997 with Wachovia and joined First Citizens in 2006. A 1997 graduate of Presbyterian College and a 2005 graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School, Lindler has served in a variety of roles during his tenure with First Citizens.

In his current position with the company, Lindler is responsible for overseeing all retail sales and services provided to customers at 23 bank branches in the metropolitan Columbia area, which includes downtown Columbia and the communities of Ballentine, Cayce, Forest Acres, Irmo, Lexington, Northeast Columbia, Sumter and West Columbia.

Lindler is an active member of the community, currently serving as chairman of the South Carolina Bankers School and as a board member of the United Way of the Midlands and EdVenture Children’s Museum. He also serves as a deacon for First Baptist Church in Columbia. Kevin and his wife Ashley reside in Columbia with their three children.
