March 20, 2013

GREENVILLE, SC – March 20, 2013 – Hundreds of Greenville seniors got a surprise and a good meal when coaches in the South Carolina College All Star Bowl delivered for Meals on Wheels of Greenville today.

The coaches joined normal volunteer delivery people as they brought lunches to home-bound seniors in the Greenville area.  Coaches involved included Nick Eason, Rodney Blount, Richard Moncrief, Patrick Sapp, Tim Shields and others.

The South Carolina College All Star Bowl is a game set up to highlight the best college football talent in the Palmetto State as well as raise awareness and be a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels agencies across the state.

Meals on Wheels of Greenville delivers a nutritious, hot meal Monday through Friday to more than 1,380 homebound residents of Greenville County who have no means to prepare a nutritious meal for themselves and little or no support system to help them on a daily basis.

The game will be aired live to more than 4.5 million viewers throughout South Carolina as well as parts of Georgia and North Carolina. South Carolina State University legend Willie Jeffries will coach the Lowcountry team and Clemson University great Danny Ford will lead the Upstate team. Clemson and University of South Carolina broadcasters Will Merritt and Todd Ellis will provide commentary and insight for the game.
