SCDOT begins work on major improvement projects in Goose Creek

Along Red Bank Road and Henry Brown Jr. Blvd.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has begun work on a project involving safety improvements on Red Bank Road which also includes intersection improvements at the Red Bank Road and Henry E. Brown Jr. Boulevard intersection, both in Goose Creek.The project includes the installation concrete medians with drainage improvements, sidewalk installations, pedestrian improvements, asphalt resurfacing, signal improvements and new signage along Red Bank Road.As part of the Henry E. Brown Jr. Boulevard and Red Bank Road Intersection Improvements, drainage installation and initial widening efforts are currently underway and are expected to continue through summer 2025.

Associated intersection pavement widening and traffic signal installations will follow in fall 2025.  Asphalt resurfacing along the corridor in addition to signal work and traffic signal work at Eagle Road, Harbor Lake Drive, and Bayshore Drive, is also expected to start in fall 2025.

Both project completions are anticipated by August 2026.

Berkeley County recently completed the Red Bank Road Gravity Sewer Project in April 2025. This project increased sewer capacity and prevented sewer overflows by installing a large gravity sewer main along Red Bank Road between Sunrise Boulevard and Henry E. Brown Jr. Boulevard.
