SCE&G Homework Center Provides Safe, Supervised Study Environment

October 2, 2007

GEORGETOWN, SC – Students at McDonald Elementary have a lot to smile about when it comes to homework, and so do their parents and teachers. That’s because the school is the setting for a new SCE&G Homework Center. To kick off the opening of its homework center, McDonald Elementary is hosting an open house for parents and students on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6-7 p.m. The school is located at 532 McDonald Road, Georgetown.

SCE&G Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers. One teacher is responsible for total management of the program. In addition, SCE&G covers the cost of snacks and student achievement incentives.

At McDonald Elementary, the homework center will operate from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Oct. 4; and will assist third, fourth and fifth grade students.

SCE&G operates 18 homework centers in South Carolina. The program began in 1992.
