SCE&G Invests in Solar Energy at Riverbanks

Check Presentation Planned for Thursday, December 4

COLUMBIA, SC – Representatives from SCE&G will present Satch Krantz, president and CEO of Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, with a $25,000 donation for the installation of solar panels on the Zoo’s new guest services building. A check presentation will take place in the Zoo’s Palmetto Plaza tomorrow at 11:00am near the entrance of the Birdhouse at Riverbanks.

The $25,000 gift is a partial match to the $50,000 grant Riverbanks received earlier this year from Palmetto Clean Energy (PaCE), a South Carolina non-profit that promotes renewable energy resources.

Riverbanks’ new guest services building is slated to open in the summer of 2015. The construction is part of the Zoo’s $32-million expansion and development project, dubbed Destination Riverbanks.
