Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Reed Gunter as the new principal of Dutch Fork High. He is taking over for Dr. Gerald Gary who has been named the district Chief Operations Officer.

“I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to lead a school with a legacy of high performance like Dutch Fork High School, and I am delighted to be named its principal,” Gunter said. “I am eager to partner with our dedicated students, engaged parents, and exceptional staff to ensure continued excellence in all we do.”

Gunter has served as the interim principal since February. Prior to that post, he served as an assistant principal at Dutch Fork High School. He has also served as an assistant principal at Dutch Fork Middle and spent 10 years as a middle school ELA teacher while also coaching C-team football and varsity lacrosse. Gunter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Level Education from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. He earned a second master’s degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College.

“Mr. Gunter has a wealth of leadership experience and a deep understanding of Dutch Fork High School,” Chief of Academics Tina McCaskill said. “We are excited to have him at the helm of the school and look forward to his contributions to the school’s continued success.”
