Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Anna Unversaw as the new principal of Chapin Middle School (formerly Chapin Intermediate). She will replace Brent Davis who is leaving at the end of the school year.

“As a Lexington-Richland School District Five graduate, I am honored to serve in the district that helped shape who I am today,” Unversaw said. “I have a passion for working with middle school students and teachers, and I’m excited to support the transition of Chapin Intermediate to a traditional middle school. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to the years ahead with this wonderful community.”

Unversaw currently serves as the Assistant Director of Academics at ALA Lexington. Prior to that position she served as Chief of Schools at Ascent Classical Academics of SC. She also served as principal at Northside Middle School in West Columbia and as a teacher at E. L. Wright Middle School in Columbia. Originally from Columbia, Unversaw has earned three degrees from the University of South Carolina, including her bachelor’s degree in government and international relations, master’s degree in mass communications, and master’s degree in educational leadership.

“Ms. Unversaw is a student-centered leader with a strong commitment to academic excellence and relationship building,” Chief Academics Officer Tina McCaskill said. “We are excited to welcome her to Chapin Middle School and are confident that her passion for supporting students, staff, and families will continue the tradition of excellence that the Chapin community values so deeply. Her leadership experience with middle schools and dedication to helping all students succeed make her an outstanding fit for this important role.”
