School District Five names new principal to Chapin Elementary School
April 15, 2025Lexington-Richland School District Five has named Amy Sgorrano as the new principal of Chapin Elementary School. She will replace Jesse Hutchinson who is retiring at the end of the school year.
“I am beyond thrilled and honored to be the new principal of Chapin Elementary,” Sgorrano said. “It is an incredible honor to step into this role and serve the students, families, and staff of this wonderful community that means so much to me. As someone who has been deeply connected to Chapin, I am excited to work alongside our dedicated educators to create a nurturing, inspiring, and enriching learning environment for all our students. I look forward to collaborating with parents, teachers, and community members to ensure Chapin Elementary’s continued growth and success.”
Sgorrano currently serves as an assistant principal at Chapin Elementary School. Prior to that position she served as an administrative assistant principal at Ballentine Elementary School. She also spent 20 years teaching in the classroom before moving into administration. Sgorrano holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Level Education from State University of New York and a master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina.
“Mrs. Sgorrano is a passionate and well-respected administrator in the School District Five community with a wealth of experience,” Chief Academic Officer Tina McCaskill said. “She has a deep understanding of the Chapin community, both staff and families. I am excited to see her lead Chapin Elementary into its next chapter of success.”
