SCRA Announces Digital Enterprise Contracts with U.S. Air Force

October 29, 2008

CHARLESTON, SC – October 30, 2008 – SCRA, a global leader in applied research and commercialization services, announces three prime contracts executed by SCRA with the U.S. Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), an arm of the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command.  AFRL is the Air Force’s only organization wholly dedicated to leading the discovery, development, and integration of warfighting technologies for U.S. air, space and cyberspace forces.

Following is a description of each contract:

• The Cost Modeling for Enterprise Transformation program (COMET) will develop and demonstrate technologies to integrate cost modeling with both design and manufacturing operations.
• The Risk Assessment for Next Generation Supply Chain Readiness program (RANGER) will increase the interoperability and intelligence monitoring of supply chain operations.
• The Improved Design Effectiveness through Next Generation Visualization project (IDEV) will create commercial software to integrate design tools with immersive visualization.

Leading these project teams with industry, academic and government partners are SCRA’s Next Generation Manufacturing Technology Initiative (NGMTI) and PDES, Inc. These joint project teams have successfully brought together deep expertise and delivery of low-cost, model-based commercialized solutions for many years.

The NGMTI accelerates the development and implementation of advanced breakthrough manufacturing technologies in support of the warfighter and the global economic competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing.  NGMTI launches collaborative project teams consisting of subject matter experts from industry, government, academia, and professional associations.

PDES, Inc. is committed to accelerating the development and implementation of standards that enable enterprise integration and product lifecycle management interoperability for its member companies.

PDES, Inc.’s members represent leading manufacturers, national governmental agencies, academia, software vendors and research organizations. PDES, Inc. supports the Digital Enterprise through the development and implementation of information standards to support model-based engineering, model-based manufacturing, and model-based sustainment. Testing of implementations and data exchange using the ISO 10303 standard is an integral part of PDES, Inc.

“These digital, model-based contracts are an example of how SCRA leverages long-standing core competencies to build new relationships,” said Bill Mahoney, SCRA CEO. “Our NGMTI and PDES, Inc. programs have provided significant client benefits for many years to the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army and are now helping SCRA secure new business with the U.S. Air Force.”
