SCRA wins contract for Navy Center of Excellence

Will Lead Navy Metalworking Center

SCRA Applied R&D announced that they have been selected to lead the Navy’s Metalworking Center. This is a U.S. Navy Manufacturing Technologies (ManTech) Center of Excellence, chartered by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This award is for an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract; the maximum dollar amount the Government may order under this contract is $99,000,000 over a five year period.

SCRA Applied R&D will operate and manage the Center in partnership with Columbus, Ohio based EWI, a leading engineering and technology organization that will provide technical expertise and support the Center’s project development and management activities.

SCRA Vice President Marty Ryan will serve as the Director of the new Center and EWI Senior Manager Paul Blomquist will serve as Technical Director.

The U.S. Navy sponsors seven Centers of Excellence that develop technologies to ensure the U.S. Navy remains the most technologically-advanced Navy in the world. SCRA, headquartered in Summerville, South Carolina, also operates the Navy Shipbuilding and Advanced Manufacturing Center and the Navy Composites Manufacturing Technology Center.
