COLUMBIA, SC – The South Carolina School Boards Association congratulates SCSBA Director of Leadership Development Gwen J. Hampton, MSW, CMP, for receiving the University Of South Carolina College of Social Work’s annual Social Work Pioneer Award. This award is given by the faculty for outstanding work on the state and national levels that reflects the values and professionalism of Social Work practice at its highest level.

According to her award announcement by USC College of Social Work Dean and Professor Anna Scheyett, Hampton’s work as the Director of Leadership Development with the South Carolina School Boards Association is just one example of her excellent service to our state. Her longstanding service to SCSBA has made an incredible impact, from mobilizing school trustees statewide around key education issues to providing vision, leadership and executive management for trainings, workshops and seminars for board members of the state’s 81 school districts.

“We are proud to have Gwen on the SCSBA executive staff as a leader and innovator in leadership development. This award proves what we already know about Gwen — she is a dedicated professional who gives back to her community through her work and service,” says SCSBA Executive Director Scott Price.

She will officially receive the award on Friday, May 6, during the College of Social Work’s Hooding Celebration at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
