SCSBA’s Richardson named director on national COSA board

COLUMBIA, SC –  South Carolina School Boards Association (SCSBA) General Counsel and Director of Policy and Legal Services Dr. Tiffany N. Richardson was elected as a director on the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys (COSA) Board of Directors during the annual COSA business meeting and elections Saturday, March 25.

COSA provides information and practical assistance to more than 3,000 attorneys representing K-12 public school districts and state school boards associations. The association supports school attorneys in their representation of public school boards by providing leadership in legal advocacy for public schools and professional development and continuing education opportunities.

Richardson joined SCSBA in January 2014 as the Director of Policy and Legal Services, and was named SCSBA’s General Counsel in March 2015.

Before joining SCSBA, Richardson was a staff attorney in the Office of Disciplinary Counsel of the South Carolina Supreme Court. She also clerked for the Honorable Judge L. Casey Manning in the fifth judicial circuit before joining the private bar practicing labor and employment law, with an emphasis on education law.

Richardson earned a juris doctorate in 2006 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She went on to earn an MBA in 2011 and a PhD in educational leadership and policy in 2014, both from the University of South Carolina.

She currently serves on the education law committee and the law related education committees of the SC Bar as well as serving on the Board of Advisors for the University of South Carolina’s Trio Programs.
