Second Saturday Service Workday a Success in Clinton
March 10, 2025The first Second Saturday Service workday, organized by Main Street Clinton, proved to be a great success, as volunteers came together on Saturday morning to make a visible difference in the downtown area.
Under the leadership of Director Jim Spry, 10 volunteers dedicated two hours of their morning to improve the community. Their efforts resulted in the straightening of 14 signs—a small but impactful task that helps maintain the city’s welcoming appearance. In addition, volunteers collected 25 bags of trash, significantly enhancing the cleanliness of downtown Clinton.
“You don’t think about it until you start noticing them,” said Spry about the leaning and fallen signs. “Crooked and falling signs can make an area look neglected. Taking the time to fix them shows pride in our community.”
Main Street Clinton launched the Second Saturday Service initiative as a way to encourage community involvement and ongoing beautification efforts. With the first event proving successful, organizers are looking forward to seeing more volunteers participate in the next Second Saturday Service event on April 12, from 9 to 11 a.m.
“Plan to come next month and join in—something really satisfying may take place,” said Susan Tallman board chair for Main Street Clinton.
