Section of I-95 southbound closed in Jasper County due to flooding

Three other roads also closed in Jasper County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has closed a section of Interstate 95 southbound in Jasper County Sunday, May 29, 2016, due to flooding from Tropical Depression Bonnie. One lane of I-95 northbound is open at this section.

The closure is in the area of mile marker 22 near the towns of Ridgeland and Yemassee.
The following detour has been put in place:

I-95 southbound detour exit 28: right off exit ramp, right on Nuna Rock Rd, left on SC 462 (Morgandollar Rd), left on US 278, to I-95 soundbound exit 18.

The following roads in Jasper County have been closed due to flooding:

  • I-95 at exit 22 closed – water crossing road near exit 23
  • US 17 In Ridgeland from just north of Green St to I-95
  • SC 462 from exit 28 (I95) southeast to SC 336
  • SC 336 (Main St) in Ridgeland form mile points 8.34 to 8.40

SCDOT has three crews working in Jasper County and one in Beaufort County at this time.

SCDOT urges motorists to stay off the roads in these areas if possible and do not drive around barricades where roads are flooded and closed.
