Section of Saluda Riverwalk behind Riverbanks Zoo & Garden closed for construction from January 6 through January 13
January 6, 2025
The City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department will close a portion of the Saluda Riverwalk trail on January 6, 2025 for public safety during heavy construction being undertaken by Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. The closed section of the Riverwalk begins directly behind Riverbanks Zoo, with public access terminating at the east end of the Millrace boardwalk. Barricades will be in place at the end of the boardwalk. The closed section will reopen by January 13, 2025.
Contractors for Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens will be installing sections of their Saluda Sky Ride Gondola Project, which necessitates heavy construction preventing pedestrian and guest activity.
During this time, guests can still access the Millrace boardwalk in its entirety, and feel free to explore the full 1.5-mile section of the Saluda Riverwalk trail extending to the right of the Riverwalk heading west and upstream.
Columbia Parks and Recreation Department encourages everyone to get outdoors and visit our parks to ring in a happy and healthy 2025.
