Re-opened Facility to Host Tours, Synchronized Swimmers

GREENVILLE, SC – May 23, 2011 – Senior Action, the non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Greenville County’s maturing population and their families by providing access to resources needed for physical, emotional and social well-being, will host a Grand Re-Opening Celebration of the Westside Aquatic Center on Wednesday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The community is invited to attend.

As part of the event, tours of the newly reopened aquatic facility will be conducted, there will be live music, and a synchronized swimming exhibition is planned.  There is no cost to attend.

With its complete refurbishment, this has become such a beautiful facility, and we are excited to invite all senior citizens and members of the community out to get a first-hand look at the new Westside Aquatic Center, said Andrea Smith, Senior Action Executive Director and CEO.  The facilities, which include a spectacular 50-meter indoor pool and smaller therapy pool, plus a fitness room, walking track and community room, are certain to be favorites of our senior population and their families across Greenville County.

Ms. Smith invited community members of all ages to join the Senior Action team and staff of the Greenville County Recreation Department for a fun-filled day and re-introduction to one of South Carolina’s crown jewels for swimming enthusiasts. Our focus is to bring together diverse members of the community to join with our seniors to enhance awareness and support for Senior Action’s efforts to end senior isolation, she added.  We want to make this a fun and leisurely day for all attendees, and to showcase this beautiful new facility to our community.

Westside Aquatic Center is located at 2700 West Blue Ridge Drive in Greenville.  Admission to the event is free, but advance reservations are required for the complimentary picnic lunch, and may be secured by calling Senior Action at 864-467-3660.
