Senior League Baseball World Series announces 2017 tournament dates

The Senior League Baseball World Series, a week-long tournament featuring the most talented 13- to 16-year-old baseball players in the world, will be held July 29 – August 5, 2017 at the J.B “Red” Owens Sports Complex in Easley, S.C.

Players from around the world will travel to play in the coveted Senior League World Championship. This year’s tournament includes teams from the regions of Australia, the Caribbean, Canada, Asia-Pacific, Europe-Africa, Latin America and regions in the U.S. including Southeast, East, West, Southwest and Central.

The tournament will feature double elimination with a two-bracket feature – one for U.S. teams and one for international teams. The U.S. bracket kicks off with the Southeast vs. East regions playing on July 29 at 9:00 a.m. The international bracket kicks off the same day at 12:30 p.m. with Australia vs. the Caribbean. The tournament will conclude on August 5 at 8:00 p.m. where the U.S. and international champions will compete in the world championship. The championship game will be featured as a live broadcast on the ESPN Network.

A team walk will march in downtown Easley at Old Market Square Amphitheater on Friday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m. to kick off the tournament’s festivities. Live entertainment, food trucks and vendors will be available at this event.

Promotional nights during the tournament are:

  • Monday, July 31 – Education Night – Free entrance for those who work in the education system and their families. Must show work ID at the Main Gate.
  • Thursday, August 3 – Fun Spinner Night – Free fidget spinners for the first 100 visitors under age 16 through the Main Gate. One per attendee.
  • Friday, August 4 – First Responders Night – Free entrance for first responders and their families. Must show work ID at the Main Gate.
  • Saturday, August 5 – Military Appreciation Day – Free admission for veterans and their families. Must show military ID at the Main Gate.

Tickets for the tournament are available online at http://www.slbws.org starting at $5 for adults and $3 for students. Children under 5 are admitted free. Week passes also are available for purchase.
