May 19, 2017

Richland One is setting the pace as a national and state leader in creating healthy schools. Seven Richland One schools have been recognized as being among the healthiest schools in the nation this year, the most among South Carolina school districts.

Arden Elementary, C.A. Johnson High, Crayton Middle, Forest Heights Elementary, H.B. Rhame Elementary and W.J. Keenan High schools have received the 2017 National Healthy Schools Bronze Award for transforming their schools into healthier places. A.C. Flora High School is the first high school in South Carolina to win the Silver Award.

These awards are presented by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a national organization founded by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation.

To earn the rankings of National Healthy Schools, these schools improved their nutrition and physical activity programs to meet or exceed stringent standards set by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program.
