SEWE to honor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. with Lifetime Stewardship Award

January 25, 2017

Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) is honoring Joseph P. Riley with the Lifetime Stewardship Award for his years of significant contribution and extraordinary dedication and service to SEWE.

The SEWE Lifetime Stewardship award was created to honor those individuals who have given selflessly to the organization over the last 3 decades. As mayor of Charleston for over forty years, The Honorable Joseph P. Riley, Jr.’s influence in the history of Charleston has had a direct and lasting impact on the civic design and public spaces that form much of the backdrop of Southeastern Wildlife Exposition.

“During SEWE’s 35 years, there has been no one that has helped to make it more successful than Mayor Riley,” says SEWE President and CEO, Jimmy Huggins. “The city is the reason for the success of this event and The Mayor is the one that had the vision and dogmatic drive that makes Charleston such a loved city and wonderful place to visit.”

“Since its humble beginnings in 1983, the support from Riley has helped the event grow into the largest and most respected wildlife art event of its kind,” adds John Powell, SEWE Executive Director.

The Honorable Joseph P. Riley will be presented with an award at a Tribute Dinner, being held Wednesday, February 15, the evening prior to SEWE weekend. The Dinner will bring together devoted event supporters and leaders from throughout the community and region to honor recipients of the Lifetime Stewardship Award. Hosted at the Charleston Gaillard Center, attendees will be introduced to an array of animals, meet wildlife artists, and dine with friends as they enjoy entertainment and an inspirational award presentation unique to SEWE. Previous Lifetime Stewardship Award winners include Len Hutchison and George Bullwinkel, pillars of the community and individuals who embody the spirit of Southeastern Wildlife Exposition.

A table for ten guests may be purchased individually for $2,500 or through the purchase of an ambassador package for $5,000 which includes 10 VIP passes for SEWE.
