Benefiting The Women’s Shelter and Harvest Hope Food Bank

COLUMBIA, SC  – January 14, 2013 – SHE Columbia: The Ultimate Girls’ Weekend is set for February 8 – 10, 2013 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. SHE Columbia benefits The Women’s Shelter via partnership with Debbie McDaniel of Revente, and partial proceeds also benefit Harvest Hope Food Bank. Major sponsors are BI-LO and Palmetto Health.

Formerly the Columbia Women’s Show, the 3-day affair has been freshly rebranded as SHE Columbia, brimming with vendors, celebs and local leaders in fashion, beauty, cooking, entertainment, crafts and healthy living. SHE Columbia is a celebration of everything woman.

The Convention Center will transform into a playground ideal for a girlfriends’ weekend, one-on-one time with mom, a stress-relieving afternoon out with the office crew, or a solo jaunt filled with shopping, pampering, ideating, sipping, and savoring.

Delightful Details
The weekend will feature a “Shop Tart Loves” fashion show featuring Anne Wolfe Postic’s picks from local indie boutiques, as well as a Revente’s Last Call pop-up shop, runway shows, beauty makeovers, prize drawings, and demos in the Style Lounge featuring Lisa Berger, stylist with Stacy London’s company, Style for Hire; Elizabeth Rouprich of Visually Appealing; and Brian Maynor of FIND FLATTER & FLAUNT.

Creatives will enjoy the DIY “Make and Take” lounge with selected Crafty Feast artisan fair vendors. For entertainers, Amanda McNulty, host of ETV’s “Making It Grow,” will reveal the secrets of roadside floral foraging during a special session. Extreme couponer Joyce Hansell will share the tricks that have cut her household costs in half.

Foodies will enjoy food and beverage demos in the Tasting Garden – like a mixology class with Motor Supply Co. Bistro head bartender Josh Streetman, whose hibiscus-infused tequila cocktail is featured in the South Carolina State Museum’s “Maya Cocktails” series this Spring. Meanwhile, Sybil Davis of the Culinary Institute of the Carolinas will share the etiquette of high, low and afternoon tea.

Capping the first day’s events, the SHE INDULGES opening night party on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 6pm will feature Lipsologist Ariana Lightningstorm and her popular lip print readings, as well as the WEAR NO RED FOR VALENTINE’S DAY fashion show, Style for Hire’s Lisa Berger in the SHE Style Lounge, and fondue tastings by Veleta.

The first 100 women to enter SHE Columbia will take home a SWAG bag from Gaffney Premium Outlets, featuring Banana Republic, New York & Co., and more, valued at $100 each.

SHE highlights six aspects of women’s lives:

  • Style:  Fashion, beauty and design to make her dazzle.
  • Crave:  Delectable food and beverage tastings and demonstrations by top local chefs.
  • Entertain: Invitations, décor, menus and floral arrangements for a fabulous fete.
  • Create: Arts and crafts to sooth your psyche and enhance your surroundings.
  • Live: Health, fitness and spiritual peace.
  • Care: Community and charity.

The Backstory on SHE

SHE Columbia is a natural evolution of the highly successful Upstate and Columbia Women’s Shows, which have attracted and entertained nearly 30,000 women over the past five years.

SHE Columbia is produced by JBM & Associates of Greenville, in cooperation with local partners in the Midlands. SHE Greenville will be held at the TD Convention Center August 23-25, 2013, and SHE Charleston will be held September 27-29, 2013 at the Charleston Area Convention Center.

“Our audiences are made up of smart, creative women with active personal and professional lives, and we want our shows to reflect their interests and personalities,” said Jacqui Bomar, JBM president and creator of the event.

“Community is a big part of SHE,” Bomar notes. “Each of our events benefits one or more local non-profits, and provides a platform for them to talk about what they do.  To date, our women’s events have raised more than $100,000 in cash and donated goods.”
