“Shine for Shelter” car wash to support Columbia’s Homeless Services – April 25

April 21, 2025

The City of Columbia’s Homeless Services Department is teaming up with United Way of the Midlands to host the Shine for Shelter Car Wash, a fundraising event supporting Rapid Shelter Columbia. The event will take place Friday, April 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Riverfront Park, 312 Laurel Street.

The car wash is part of United Way’s Volunteer Week, which runs April 21–26. Community members are encouraged to stop by for a car wash, donate, or sign up to volunteer. All proceeds will benefit services for individuals experiencing homelessness, as well as the providers who support them.

Volunteer Week is mobilizing 1,000 volunteers across 100 teams to complete community service projects, with each participant aiming to raise $100 to support local programs in education, housing, and healthcare. Funds raised during the car wash will be split between United Way and Rapid Shelter Columbia.
