August 28, 2023

Nekki Shutt, a founding partner at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel, has been named to South Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Employment Law Power List.

The list recognizes attorneys’ important work in their practice area. Selection criteria include a record of success in cases, leadership in the community and in the legal profession, and the respect of peers.

A certified specialist in employment law since 2011, Shutt has dedicated her legal career to fighting unfair systems. With an emphasis on employee benefits under federal ERISA laws and state statutes, she helps clients with issues such as disability benefits, life insurance claims and healthcare coverage. Shutt long has been a leader in the legal profession, serving on the South Carolina Bar Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee of its Labor and Employment Law Sections.

Her professional honors are numerous. She’s consistently earned recognition in national directories such as the peer-reviewed “Best Lawyers in America,” including five Lawyer of the Year awards, and in “Super Lawyers.” The University of South Carolina School of Law Alumni Council has honored her with the James Petigru Compleat Lawyer Award for Professional Excellence.
