Simer Named Greenville Tech¹s Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness

GREENVILLE, SC – March 4, 2010 – Lauren Simer has joined the staff at Greenville Technical College as vice president for institutional effectiveness. Simer comes to Greenville Tech from Black Hawk College in Illinois, where she had worked since 1999, most recently as Chief Information Officer.

Simer earned a bachelor¹s degree in elementary education from Concordia College in Illinois and a master¹s degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in Washington. She taught junior high language arts, social studies, math and science. Simer developed an interest in computers in 1988 and began taking classes, volunteering her computer skills to various organizations including web page development for non-profit organizations.

A certified netware engineer, Simer was a member of the ICCCA Commission on Technology. She also is a strong advocate for recruiting women into the information technology field.
